I am not the only one who has allowed circumstances to overwhelm me and weaken my relationship with God. Has this happened to you too? It is disheartening to discover we don’t have the spiritual muscle to stand firm no matter what, we don’t have to give up! We can forget what lies behind and begin again to strive toward a life of greater strength and maturity.
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things.(Philippians 3:12-15a)
Take a look at what God thinks about people who live well.
Men and women who have lived wisely and well will shine brilliantly, like the cloudless star-strewn night skies. And those who put others on the right path to live will glow like stars forever (Daniel 12:3, Message)
How cool would it be to fill the globe with people who live like this…
- Like stars in the sky
- Like a city on a hill all lit up at night (Matthew 5:14)
In 2014 I launched Oaks Ministries: Display God’s Nature to a Watching World. Oaks (for short) is committed to helping people mature in their faith so we can better reflect God with our lives and be less rocked by our circumstances than we were in the past. Oaks offers:
- a blog in which I share thoughts to encourage, challenge or help you grow in your faith;
- a bible study, One Gritty Blink: Contemplate the Brevity of Life Compared to Eternity;
- a book, Live ABOVE the Chaos.
