Silent Saturday

This is part two of my three part thinking this Easter.

Good Friday is now over.

Easter is tomorrow.

What about today?

Today is silent as we wait in suspension.

God seems to be nowhere today while we are waiting in-between.

Have you ever had a season like that? I am in one right now. I am in a season of waiting for long, slow processes to play out in every area of my life. I am living one day at a time without concrete answers in any direction.

Suspended in mid-air.

Can’t turn around.

Still a long way to go up ahead.

If you are living in suspension, God has not gone to sleep. Tomorrow is coming.

Today is silent as we wait in sadness, contemplating our sin.

On this day years ago, Jesus was paying for my sins. I wasn’t even born yet, but now I can name  some of those sins he was paying for. They were biggies. I am ashamed.

I am the one that deserved crucifixion. I am the one that deserved the punishment.

On this day years ago Jesus was fully paying for all sins of everyone in all of history.

Now he has offered the sin payment to every single person saying, “Here, let my death on the cross count for your sin instead. You don’t have to pay it. No one else has paid it. Only me. Here. Take it.”

So today I am sad because Jesus had to pay the sin bill for me…and you.

As I look forward to tomorrow when I can be glad again.

Planting and Watering

I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes growth.
