When’s the last time you prayed for your house?

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12)

This week I moved into a new home and as is my custom, I prayed a prayer like one I commonly pray over places I live or stay. This week I share it with you in case you have never thought to do it for your home. This can also apply to the hotel rooms we check into or cabins we rent this summer. It can even be said in the bedroom of a child that you suspect is struggling with activities that would give the enemy an opportunity to gain entrance and cause some manner of destruction.

Father, thank you for this space. You are the only One invited here. If there is anything evil lingering here from a prior resident, may it be gone now in the name of Jesus never to return. Fill every nook and cranny with your presence. May all who live here be an ever-increasing light for Jesus and may all who come and go from here experience Your love. I rely on You alone to protect this place for Your purposes. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Picture Explanation: Happy Father’s Day to the man through whom God provides for this family. Even today you are working a 16 hour shift. Hardest working man I know. Be blessed.

  1. Thank you, Laurie! I am going to write that prayer down and begin praying it in my children’s bedrooms. Powerful! XOXO!

Planting and Watering

I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes growth.
